Jimmy had been staring at this guitar now for long enough. How long had he had it? About 25 years, in fact, it was a gift for his infant son. His son was grown now, out of his household and done with this guitar. But it played really well and it would be a great guitar for someone who needed the sound that it brought— that real quick and choppy sound. Great for picking, not so great for a teen-aged child who was just starting out. As his son found out soon enough; he asked for a different one after strumming this one for six months. Jimmy had even asked his son if he wanted it back now, but he said, “no,” that he was “attached to this one he had just gotten”. Not one for following trends, Jimmy was reluctant to try selling his guitar online. By tuning into the news every-so-often, he knew of the “severe dangers” that lurked behind the electronic glow of the computer’s screen!! He had desperately tried to find anyone that would buy this guitar, but all of his guitar buddies weren’t looking for new instruments right now, and it was much too valuable to give away for much less. And besides that, he wasn’t very computer savvy in the first place. He emailed his children, received photo e-mail attachments of his granddaughter, and sent e-cards. But that was about it for him. If he wanted music, he put on a CD or a record. If he wanted videos, he watched TV or a DVD. Why did everything have to be put into one place? The convenience was a little too much for him. But he needed to conveniently sell this guitar, and as quickly as possible.

Jimmy came into his office, a room he didn’t spend much time in, and sat down in his office chair. The chair still was comforting, even though it was nearly a decade old. As he sat, a groan of relief came from him; it was probably his knees relieved that he had quit standing on them. That was age does to you, it makes your body begin to hate you for using it. But, none-the-less, he sat and pulled out his reading glasses from his shirt pocket and put them on. He pulled his laptop open and sat, staring at the things on his desk while the computer loaded. He spun around in his chair, turning toward the guitar case in the corner and rotated back toward the desk. By this time, his desktop had loaded with all of it little widgets and programs and he was good to go. Notifications popped: an e-mail from old colleagues, spam from a man in Nantucket who needed money wired to him, messages from his kids, etc. After he had dealt with all his electronic errands, it was time to do some business of his own. Slowly (but surely), he typed into his web address bar, “craigslist.com”. He clicked through categories, finding one that fit his needs the best and decided that this would be a good place to sell his guitar.

The post stated: ”Looking to sell a 1977 Fender Stratocaster, price can be negotiated.” And under this, he attached a photo of said Fender. “Reach me at my e-mail address, jpzoso@gmail.com.”
